High-voltage distribution for steel, chemical and cement plants
Mills, kilns, compressors and hoists are driven by high-voltage motors that punish weak distribution design: high starting current, harmonics, dust and heat. SAGE Power supplies the MV switchgear, transformer and compensation layer that keeps those drives running.

Design priorities
Design points that decide uptime
01
Motor-rated MV switchgear
Vacuum breakers sized for frequent starting duty, with compartments arranged for fast truck replacement during a production stop.
02
High short-circuit withstand
Busbars, CTs and breakers selected for the plant fault level, with internal arc classification documented for the switch room.
03
Harmonic and reactive compensation
Capacitor banks and detuned reactors to correct power factor and absorb the harmonics produced by VFDs and arc furnaces.
04
Rugged enclosures and filtering
IP-rated enclosures, anti-condensation heaters and filter systems for dust, heat and corrosive atmospheres in the process area.

Typical configuration
What a typical scheme looks like
A typical plant distribution chain from the incoming substation to the motor control centre.
- Incoming: 35 kV or 10 kV, 1250–2000 A, 25–31.5 kA
- MV feeders: 6 kV or 10 kV motor and transformer feeders, withdrawable
- Distribution transformer: 10 kV / 0.4 kV, 1250–2500 kVA
- LV distribution: 400 V MCC and distribution boards, fixed or drawout
- Compensation: MV or LV capacitor banks with detuned reactors
- Protection: motor protection relays, interlocking, plant SCADA interface
Recommended equipment
Equipment we would put in this scheme

KYN28-12 switchgear
12 kV metal-clad withdrawable switchgear for motor feeders and plant distribution.

KYN61-40.5 switchgear
40.5 kV withdrawable switchgear for 35 kV incoming and primary distribution.

GGJ compensation cabinet
Low-voltage capacitor compensation with detuned reactors for power factor correction.

GGD / GCS LV switchgear
Fixed and drawout low-voltage cabinets for motor control centres and plant distribution.
How we deliver
One team from drawing review to commissioning
01
Engineering review
We start from your single-line diagram, load list and fault level, then confirm the topology, ratings and protection scheme before anything is quoted.
02
Manufacture and test
Switchgear, transformers and substations are built in Yueqing, routine tested and documented against the relevant IEC and GB standards.
03
Delivery and support
Export packing, drawings, test reports and O&M manuals travel with the shipment, with commissioning support available on site.
Questions buyers ask
Frequently asked questions
Can the switchgear handle frequent motor starting?
Yes. Vacuum breakers and relay settings are selected for the starting duty and starts-per-hour of your drives; send the motor list so we can size them.
Do you supply harmonic filters?
We supply detuned capacitor banks for power factor correction and harmonic absorption. For active filtering we coordinate with your drive supplier.
How do you deal with dust and heat in the plant?
Enclosures are specified with the required IP rating, anti-condensation heaters and ventilation or filtering, with derating applied for the ambient temperature.
Can you match an existing plant's switchgear?
Build-to-drawing and retrofit configurations are possible; send the existing drawings and we will confirm the interface and busbar arrangement.
Replacing or expanding a plant substation?
Send the motor list, single-line diagram and fault level. We will return a switchgear and compensation scope sized for the duty.
