Overview

KYN28-12KV is an indoor AC metal-clad withdrawable switchgear developed according to IEC 62271-200 and GB3906-2006 standards. It is designed for three-phase, 50/60 Hz power systems with a rated voltage up to 12 kV.

The switchgear is built as a metal-clad, withdrawable assembly with four independent compartments. Separating the functional compartments behind grounded metal partitions is what allows the withdrawable truck to be moved for inspection or replacement while the remaining compartments stay in service.

Because the design follows IEC 62271-200, the assembly is type tested against the switchgear safety requirements in certified laboratories, and every unit receives routine tests before dispatch.

Key Features

  • Metal-clad withdrawable construction — the switchgear is a metal-clad, withdrawable assembly, so the main switching device can be withdrawn for inspection, testing or replacement.
  • Four independent compartments — the functional compartments are separately enclosed, which limits the effect of a fault to the compartment where it occurs.
  • Type tested to IEC 62271-200 — the design is verified against the switchgear safety requirements in certified laboratories.
  • Standards compliance — developed to IEC 62271-200 and GB3906-2006 for three-phase 50/60 Hz systems up to 12 kV.
  • Routine tested before dispatch — insulation resistance, contact resistance, main circuit withstand voltage, mechanical operation, secondary wiring and the anti-condensation heater are checked on every unit.
  • Suitable for indoor switchrooms — designed for indoor installation in distribution rooms and substations.

Applications

  • Industrial power distribution — receiving and distributing medium voltage power inside industrial facilities.
  • Electrical substations — switching and protection of incoming and outgoing feeders.
  • Commercial and institutional buildings — medium voltage distribution where indoor switchgear is required.
  • Utility and infrastructure projects — medium voltage distribution nodes in power networks.

Installation Conditions

  • The switchgear is designed for indoor installation in a distribution room or switchroom.
  • Type testing to IEC 62271-200 covers the assembly, so the installation must follow the manufacturer layout for compartment separation and access to remain valid.
  • Allow space in front of the switchgear for withdrawing the truck and for cable termination.
  • The anti-condensation heater is verified as part of the routine test, so a suitable auxiliary supply must be available at the installation.

How to Select

  • Rated voltage and rated current required by the network — the design covers systems up to 12 kV.
  • Rated short-circuit withstand level required at the switchgear location.
  • Number and type of incoming and outgoing circuits.
  • Protection and monitoring functions required for each feeder.
  • Indoor installation conditions and the room dimensions available for the switchgear line-up.

FAQ

What does metal-clad withdrawable mean?

Metal-clad means the switchgear is built with grounded metal partitions that separate the functional compartments. Withdrawable means the main switching device is mounted on a truck that can be moved out of its compartment for inspection, testing or replacement without disturbing the rest of the assembly.

Which standards does the KYN28-12KV comply with?

The switchgear is developed according to IEC 62271-200 and GB3906-2006. The type test is carried out according to IEC 62271-200 in certified laboratories.

What tests are performed on every unit?

Routine tests on each unit cover insulation resistance, contact resistance measured in micro-ohms, main circuit withstand voltage, mechanical operation check, secondary wiring verification and the anti-condensation heater test.

What is the purpose of the four independent compartments?

Separating the functional compartments behind grounded metal partitions limits the effect of a fault to the compartment where it originates and allows access to one compartment while the others remain in service.

Is it suitable for 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems?

Yes. The switchgear is designed for three-phase 50/60 Hz power systems with a rated voltage up to 12 kV.

Can the configuration be adapted to my project?

The switchgear is configured per project. Provide the rated voltage, rated current, short-circuit withstand level and the required number and type of circuits, and the appropriate arrangement can be confirmed.
