Collect, step up and protect renewable generation
Wind and solar plants push a large amount of power through a small number of collection points. SAGE Power builds that collection and step-up layer: 690 V turbine collection, 10–35 kV inverter-block and feeder switchgear, pad- or skid-mounted transformers, and the MV protection that connects the plant to the grid.

Design priorities
What decides whether a plant connects on time
01
690 V collection, 10–35 kV step-up
Transformer and switchgear combinations matched to turbine rating, inverter block size and the point-of-connection voltage.
02
Outdoor-ready enclosures
IP54/IP55 enclosures with anti-condensation heaters, sun shields and C5-M corrosion protection for coastal, desert and humid sites.
03
Grid-code metering and protection
CTs, VTs, multifunction meters and relay interfaces for reactive power, power factor and fault-ride-through compliance.
04
Compact and relocatable
Pad-mounted, skid-mounted and containerised arrangements that shorten civil works and allow phased expansion.

Typical configuration
What a typical scheme looks like
Typical collection and step-up arrangements for utility-scale wind and solar plants.
- Wind collection: 690 V / 0.8 kV turbine transformer
- Solar step-up: 10 kV or 35 kV, 500–6800 kVA
- MV switchgear: RMU, ring main or VCB feeder, 630–1250 A, 20–31.5 kA
- Protection: feeder relays, surge arresters, grid metering
- Enclosure: IP54/IP55, -25 °C to +55 °C, C5-M coating
- Options: SCADA/PPC interface, remote monitoring, DC/AC auxiliary supply

How we deliver
One team from drawing review to commissioning
01
Engineering review
We start from your single-line diagram, load list and fault level, then confirm the topology, ratings and protection scheme before anything is quoted.
02
Manufacture and test
Switchgear, transformers and substations are built in Yueqing, routine tested and documented against the relevant IEC and GB standards.
03
Delivery and support
Export packing, drawings, test reports and O&M manuals travel with the shipment, with commissioning support available on site.
Questions buyers ask
Frequently asked questions
Oil-immersed or dry-type for a solar plant?
Pad-mounted oil-immersed transformers are common outdoors for utility-scale blocks; dry-type is used where the transformer sits inside a building or a fire load must be avoided.
How do you size the step-up transformer?
From the inverter or turbine block rating, the point-of-connection voltage and the expected ambient. Send the block layout and we will return kVA and impedance options.
Can the equipment handle coastal or desert sites?
Enclosures are specified to IP54/IP55 with C5-M coating, sun shields and anti-condensation heaters, with ratings confirmed against site temperature and pollution level.
Do you provide grid-code documentation?
Yes: CT/VT ratios, metering diagrams, relay settings support and routine test reports are issued with the equipment for the utility submission.
Planning a wind or solar collection system?
Send the turbine or inverter datasheet, block layout and point-of-connection voltage. We will return a step-up and protection scheme.
